Web Guide on HUMOR

Who said school has to be so serious? In fact, there's nothing like shared laughter to bring a group of new students together! And this month Trumpet is featuring a variety of books that are silly, playful and just downright funny.

Squids Will Be Squids
Frindle
The Giggler Treatment
Skinnybones
The Diary of Melanie Martin

Squids Will Be Squids, the newest offering from the creators of The Stinky Cheese Man, is a parody of fables filled with hilarious non-sequitors and outrageously silly morals. Frindle is the riotous story of a boy who invents a word to the dismay of his teachers and watches it become a nationwide fad. Or check out The Giggler Treatment, by acclaimed novelist Roddy Doyle, which uses age-old gags and pratfalls in a fresh and delightful story about naughty grown-ups getting what they deserve. And then there's the Skinnybones, the laugh-out loud tale about the misadventures of a blabbermouth. Finally, anyone who's ever been on a family vacation will appreciate the wise-cracking humor of The Diary of Melanie Martin.
