Web Guide on ADVENTURE

A book can take you anywhere! Since Homer wrote the Odyssey thousands of years ago, readers have thrilled to tales of far-off realms. This month, you can expand your students’ imaginations with these exciting adventure stories and Internet journeys across space and time. Have fun, and don’t forget to come back!

  Anpao
The Ghost in the Tokaido Inn
  Ender’s Game
  Touching Spirit Bear
  Among the Hidden

In Touching Spirit Bear, your students will travel to a remote Alaskan island where a recalcitrant juvenile delinquent has been sent to live by himself, a traditional Tinglet punishment. Alone in the wilderness he will meet a mysterious white bear and begin to discover who he really is.
Seiko, the hero of The Ghost in the Tokaido Inn, knows what he wants to do with his life—be a samurai. Can he fulfill his dream? Step back in time to 18th century Japan and find out!
In Anpao, a young Native American boy must journey to the distant past, to the very dawn of time itself, and battle all kinds of legendary creatures in order to win his love’s hand in marriage.
You’ll experience battles galore in Ender’s Game as well—in a future where aliens have invaded Earth and a special race of warriors has been bred to combat them.
Also set in the future is Among the Hidden, the moving story of a third child born into a world where only two are allowed. Will he spend his life forever unknown or, with the help of his friend Jen, dare to reveal himself?
